WHAT IS SEA MOSS?

Our Sea Moss is the Eucheuma Cottonii, a red edible seaweed. It is mineral-rich, with some vitamins, high in antioxidants, and low in calories. It is interchangeably referred to as Sea Bird’s Nest and Irish Moss in some parts of the world where it has been used culturally and historically for those who believe in its health benefits. Well known for its carrageenan, Sea Moss is used as a food emulsifier and stabilizing agent, commonly added to:

  • smoothies

No.  There are no added preservatives.

DO I NEED TO CLEAN THE SEA MOSS?

Yes. Sea Moss is a marine plant so you will naturally find some sea salt which helps to preserve it. We try our best to deliver clean sea moss, but you may occasionally find sand or other elements from the sea which may have become entangled in our Sea Moss. This is why we advise that you thoroughly rinse before soaking.

HOW LONG CAN I STORE DRIED SEA MOSS?

It can be stored in a cool, dry place for up to two years.

HOW DO YOU PACKAGE YOUR SEA MOSS?

We try as much as possible to use 100% compostable and oxo-degradable stand-up pouches and material that are plant-based.

ABOUT RAFFIA

Our bags are made from Raffia Palms which are abundant in Madagascar. Harvesting the palm leaves do no harm to the trees or the environment. The palms are stripped and the fibers are sun dried to a natural color. These strong, pliable fibers are hand woven into some of the most beautiful creations, like bags, hats and baskets, mostly by women artisans in remote villages. The natural raffia is colored with vegetable dyes to add to the beauty of the products.
